In News :- According ADR Twenty-nine of the 30 incumbent chief ministers are crorepatis . Andhra Pradesh’s Jagan Mohan Reddy having the highest assets totalling Rs 510 crore, according to ADR affidavits analysed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has the lowest total assets of about Rs 15 lakh.
According ADR top three chief ministers in terms of assets are Andhra Pradesh’s Jagan Mohan Reddy (over Rs 510 crore), Arunanchal Pradesh’s Pema Khandu (over Rs 163 crore) and Odisha’s Naveen Pattnaik (over Rs 63 crore).
According ADR Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal own assets worth over Rs 3 crore .
BASICS ABOUT ADR REPORT
ADR came into existence in 1999 when a group of Professors from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Bangalore filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with the Delhi High Court regarding the disclosure of the criminal, financial and educational background of the candidates contesting elections.
The Supreme Court made it mandatory for all the candidates contesting elections to disclose their criminal, financial and educational background prior to the polls by filing an affidavit with the Election Commission of India. The process led to greater awareness among voters of criminal cases against politicians.

ADR was co-founded by Trilochan Sastry, Jagdeep S. Chhokar, Ajit Ranade, Sunil Handa, Devanath Tirupati, Brij Kothari, Rajesh Agarwal, Pankaj Chandra, Sudarshan Khanna, Prem Pangotra and P.R. Shukla.headed by Maj. Gen. Anil Verma .
