In discussion: India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will participate in the 56th Annual General Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank in South Korea today

What is Asian Development Bank?

Now let’s talk about what is Asian

Development Bank? The Asian Development Bank is a regional development bank established on 19 December 1966 to facilitate the economic development of Asian countries. The Asian Development Bank includes members of the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East and non-regional developed countries. Is.The Asian Development Bank was founded with 31 members, now the ADB has 68 members 49 of which are from Asia and the Pacific and 19 are external.

The Asian Development Bank was modeled largely on the World Bank and, similar to the World Bank, has a weighted vote system in which votes are distributed based on members’ capital subscription ratios.

What are the objectives of Asian Development Bank?

The Asian Development Bank provides “hard” loans on commercial terms from Ordinary Capital Resources and “soft” loans at concessional rates from the Asian Development Fund specific fund affiliated with the Asian Development Bank. It helps in infrastructure development in Asia.

What is Asian Development Bank Relevance?

People believe that the work done by the World Bank is done by the Asian Development Bank in Asia.

The Asian Development Bank was founded with 31 members, now the Asian Development Bank has 68 members – 49 of which are from the Asia and Pacific region. And 19 members are countries outside Asia.

How does a person become a member of Parliament?

Why in discussion:

What is Representation of the People Act?

What is the objective in the Representation
of the People Act?

Is it good for democracy?

Can this law ever be misused?

How does disqualify as member of Parliament?

Why in discussion:

Just a few days back Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership was revoked and recently Bahujan Samaj Party MP from Uttar Pradesh Afzal Ansari’s membership has been revoked. Afzal Ansari has been imprisoned for four years.

What is Representation of the People Act?

This law governs elections to the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies in India and to the offices of President and Vice-President in the country. The Election Commission functions under the authority of Article 324 of the Constitution and the Representation of the People Act enacted subsequently.

Under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, if a person is elected to two seats in the same House, he has to voluntarily vacate one of the seats. Otherwise both the seats become vacant.
The Election Commission has recommended to the government that there should be a provision for a person to contest only one seat. It is not that the Election Commission has made this recommendation for the first time. Even in 2004, the Election Commission has made such recommendations twice but, how can our law makers make laws ignoring their own interests.

If any Member of Parliament is imprisoned for more than two years, then his membership of Parliament will be cancelled.

What is the objective in the Representation of the People Act?

The main purpose of the Representation of the People Act is to further strengthen democracy. Its purpose is also that no one should wrongly take public support of the people of the country. If this happens, the court can cancel his membership of Parliament.

Is it good for democracy?

Yes. It is good for democracy. This happens many times in a democracy, people take public support by luring the public. If any mistake is made by the public, then the court corrects it.

Can this law ever be misused?

It is also possible that this law may be misused, the ruling party can use it for its own pressure. We all have seen such allegations being leveled against the government by the opposition.

International Labor Day

In discussion:

Why is International Labour Day celebrated?

International Labour Day and India

 International Labour Day

In news: International Labour Day is
celebrated on May 1 all over the world.

Why is International Labour Day celebrated?

International Labour Day is being celebrated
today in memory of the labour movement and the sacrifice and struggle of the
workers. It is also known as May Day. Labour Day originated in the late 19th
century, when workers around the world began demanding better working
conditions and fair wages and shorter working hours. The beginning of
celebrating International Labour Day May Day is considered from May 1, 1886 when labour unions of America went on strike to keep the work time not more than 8 hours.

During this strike, there was a bomb blast in Chicago’s Hay Market. No one knows who threw this bomb. As a result, the police opened fire on the workers and killed seven workers. It was a big event.

 International Labour Day and India

If we talk about India, the first Labour Day
in India was celebrated on May 1, 1923 in Chennai. The first May Day
celebrations were organized by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan. Labour Day is celebrated all over the world to raise awareness about the rights of working
people and to protect them from exploitation. The day also serves as a reminder
of the important role played by the working class in our society.

 wrestlers protests at Jantar Mantar

In discussion: Indian women wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for a several days.

What is the matter?

Indian women wrestlers have brought laurels to our country, but in their own country, they have to resort to sit-in demonstrations to express their views. This Jantar Mantar is a very holy place.
In 2011, Anna Hazare started a movement against corruption here. That movement had changed the politics of the country and many other movements started from here.

For the past several days, the Olympic
champion wrestler, President of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have been protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Brij
Bhushan Singh is accused of allegedly sexually harassing female wrestlers.
Wrestlers say that they will not stop protesting just because an FIR is
registered. Women wrestlers say that they will not go home until Brijbhushan
Singh is arrested.

Many leaders and big players and huge public support are standing in support of women wrestlers. On January 18, 2023, wrestlers Vinesh

Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia reached Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and made several serious allegations against Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. We do. After this, the Union Sports Minister met

the players and on 23 January formed a five-member inspection committee to
investigate the allegations.

  MC
Mary Kom was elected the chairman of this committee
