 What is CUET?

We all have a dream
after 12th that our admission should also be done in some good or big college.
Till now it used to be on the basis of 12th merit on the college. But for taking
admission in Central University, a compulsory common test has been made, it is
called CUET.

CUET is now binding
on Central Universities. It is not binding for other universities, they can
adopt it if they want. Central University-Combined Entrance Test (CU-CET) is an
all India examination being conducted for admission to various
integrated/undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs in several Central
Universities and State Universities of India. The exam is conducted by the
National Testing Service (NTA).

What is merit?

If we talk about CUET exam, then to appear in CUET-UG
exam, it is mandatory for the candidate to pass 12th or its equivalent from any
recognized board. There is no compulsion of 12th board marks in this. However,
the university may impose a minimum mark requirement (eg 50%). Candidate can do
12th from any subject and can give entrance exam in any subject and take
admission.

Earlier it was such that a candidate could choose a maximum of three languages from Section IA and Section IB. A total of 9 tests had to be given in this. If the candidate opted for 2 languages, then his test would be as follows: 2 languages + 6 domain specific topics + 1 general test. On the other hand, if the candidate chose 3 languages, then his test was as follows: 3 languages + 5 domain specific subjects + 1 general test.

But now out of the above mentioned subjects/languages, candidates can choose a maximum of 10 subjects from all the three sections.

Depending on the number of candidates and subject options, the exam will be conducted in 3 slots per day for several days.

CUET will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). It will have all Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question will be of 5 marks and there will also be a system of negative marking in which 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

This year the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) exam will be held from May 21 to May 31, 2023 in three shifts.

The syllabus of CUET is –

Reading Comprehension will be asked to test the language knowledge in Section IA and Section IB.

Section II – Here let me tell you that all the questions in the domain specific subject will be as per the NCERT syllabus of class 12th.

In Section III – General Test, questions will be asked from the following subjects.

How to prepare for CUET?

The Common University Entrance Test consists of two sections (IA and IB) of language. In the language paper, you will be asked Reading Comprehension. Therefore, one should start reading and solving the reading comprehension of the languages in which the test is to be given from now itself.

For domain specific subjects, we will get all the questions from 12th NCERT. So read NCERT with proper understanding. There is no better book than NCERT. That’s why you should try to understand NCERT only. These are government books, they will appear in the exam from here only.

For your convenience, we are giving you the names and links of the universities so that it becomes easier for you.
