What is the problem?
At the time of independence, the British government had given the right to the princely states that if they wanted to stay in India, they could stay, if they wanted to go with Pakistan, and if they wanted to remain independent, they could remain independent. Three princely states declared independence, one of them was Kashmir. The problem was that the people of Kashmir were Muslims and the ruler was a Hindu, due to which there was a rebellion in Kashmir. Some people started supporting Pakistan due to instigation by Pakistan, and then Pakistan started claiming its rights over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
