1.Greenwashing

Greenwashing is a form of marketing or advertising spin in which green PR and green marketing are deceptively used to persuade the public that an organization’s products, aims and policies are environmentally friendly. Companies that intentionally take up greenwashing communication strategies often do so in order to distance themselves from their own environmental lapses or those of their suppliers.

Greenwashing can take many forms, but some of the most common include:

1.Making false or misleading claims about the environmental benefits of a product or service. For example, a company might claim that their product is “carbon neutral” when it is actually not.

2.Using vague or ambiguous language to make it seem like a product or service is more environmentally friendly than it really is. For example, a company might say that their product is “made with recycled materials” without specifying how much recycled content is actually in the product.

3.Highlighting the environmental benefits of a product or service while downplaying the environmental impacts of the company’s overall operations. For example, a company might focus on the fact that their products are recyclable while ignoring the fact that they produce a lot of pollution in their manufacturing process.

Greenwashing can be harmful because it misleads consumers into thinking that they are making environmentally friendly choices when they are not. This can lead to people making decisions that are not in the best interests of the environment.

There are a few things that consumers can do to avoid being misled by greenwashing:

1.Be skeptical of claims that seem too good to be true. If a company is making claims that sound like they are trying to hard to convince you that their product is environmentally friendly, they are probably greenwashing you.

2.Do your research. Before you buy a product or service, take some time to research the company and their environmental practices. You can find this information on the company’s website, or by searching for articles or reports about the company.

3.Support companies that are transparent about their environmental practices. Companies that are committed to environmental sustainability will be open and honest about their environmental impacts. They will also be willing to share information about their environmental practices with consumers.

Greenwashing is a problem, but it is one that consumers can help to solve. By being skeptical of greenwashing claims and supporting companies that are transparent about their environmental practices, we can help to ensure that our choices are truly environmentally friendly.

2.The India Meteorological Department

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is the national meteorological agency of India. It is responsible for providing weather forecasts, warnings, and other meteorological services to the government, businesses, and the public. The IMD was established in 1875, and it is headquartered in New Delhi.

The IMD has a network of over 1,200 weather stations across India. These stations collect data on rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind speed, and other meteorological parameters. The IMD uses this data to generate weather forecasts and warnings.

The IMD also provides a variety of other meteorological services, such as:

1.Climate monitoring

2.Agricultural meteorology

3.Aviation meteorology

4.Marine meteorology

5.Environmental monitoring

The IMD is a valuable resource for weather information in India. It provides timely and accurate forecasts and warnings that help to protect people and property from the hazards of weather.

Here are some of the IMD’s most important functions:

  • Weather forecasting: The IMD provides weather forecasts for all parts of India, including short-term forecasts for the next few hours or days, and long-term forecasts for the next few weeks or months.
  • Weather warnings: The IMD issues weather warnings for a variety of hazards, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, cyclones, and heat waves. These warnings help people to take precautions and stay safe during severe weather events.
  • Climate monitoring: The IMD monitors India’s climate and provides data on temperature, rainfall, and other meteorological parameters. This data is used to track changes in India’s climate and to help scientists understand the causes of climate change.
  • Agricultural meteorology: The IMD provides information on weather conditions that are important for agriculture, such as rainfall, temperature, and humidity. This information helps farmers to plan their crops and to manage their water resources.
  • Aviation meteorology: The IMD provides weather forecasts and warnings for pilots and air traffic controllers. This information helps to ensure the safety of air travel in India.
  • Marine meteorology: The IMD provides weather forecasts and warnings for mariners. This information helps to keep ships and sailors safe at sea.
  • Environmental monitoring: The IMD monitors India’s environment and provides data on air quality, water quality, and other environmental parameters. This data is used to track changes in India’s environment and to help scientists understand the causes of environmental pollution.

The IMD is a valuable resource for weather information in India. It provides timely and accurate forecasts and warnings that help to protect people and property from the hazards of weather.

3.Bastille Day Parade

The Bastille Day Parade, also known as the 14th July Military Parade or Défilé du 14 juillet, is an annual event held in France on July 14th to celebrate Bastille Day, the French National Day. The parade takes place on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris and is a prominent part of the festivities.

The Bastille Day Parade is a grand display of French military power, tradition, and national pride. It showcases the country’s armed forces, including the French Army, Navy, Air Force, and various security and emergency services. The parade often features marching troops, military vehicles, aircraft flyovers, and mounted units. Special units such as the French Foreign Legion and the Republican Guard also participate.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend this year’s Bastille Day Parade as Guest of Honour at Paris in France on the 14th of July. The CEOs of many French companies have expressed enthusiasm for the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to France Mr Modi’s visit to France is high on both symbolism and substance.

A Tri-services contingent from India, including IAF aircraft, will participate in the Bastille Day Parade. It is uncommon for foreign leaders to be invited as Guest of Honour for Bastille Day. Foreign marching contingents and foreign aircraft participating in it is also rare.

4.Chandrayaan-3

Chandrayaan-3 is a lunar exploration mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2, which was launched in 2019.

Chandrayaan-3 will consist of a lander, a rover, and a propulsion module. The lander will be similar to the Vikram lander on Chandrayaan-2, but with improvements to help ensure a safe landing. The rover will be a new vehicle that will be able to travel further and explore more of the lunar surface than the Pragyan rover on Chandrayaan-2. The propulsion module will be used to transport the lander and rover to the Moon.

Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled to launch on July 14, 2023. It will land in the south polar region of the Moon, where it will conduct a number of scientific experiments. The mission is expected to last for one year.

The main objectives of Chandrayaan-3 are to:

1.Land a lander and rover on the Moon’s south polar region.

2.Study the lunar surface and atmosphere.

3.Search for water ice in the lunar polar region.

4.Demonstrate new technologies for future lunar missions.

Chandrayaan-3 is a challenging mission, but it has the potential to make significant scientific discoveries. The mission will help us to better understand the Moon and its history, and it could also lead to the development of new technologies that could be used for future lunar exploration.
