The program focuses on three key areas are Infrastructure development, Livelihood generation,skill development, agriculture, horticulture, cultivation of medicinal plants, and entrepreneurship to create sustainable income opportunities for villagers. The Vibrant Villages Programme covers 2963 villages in total. In the first phase, the program is being implemented in 663 villages across 19 districts and 46 border blocks in four states (Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand) and one UT (Ladakh).
