Why is Horn of Africa in discussion?
The region is known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse geography. Here desert, mountains, forests and beaches are all found together.
Poverty and hunger are major problems in the Horn of Africa. Many countries in the region have long suffered war and conflict, which has devastated their economies and displaced millions of people.
In recent years, climate change has increased the incidence of drought and floods in the Horn of Africa. This has further worsened the food security and nutrition situation in the region.
The security situation in the Horn of Africa is also a matter of concern. The region faces many security challenges such as Somali pirates, terrorist organizations like Al-Shabaab and the ongoing border conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia.
