How to prepare on the day of IAS interview exam?
A few days after the declaration of the results of the main examination, the Union Public Service Commission releases the first list of the candidates. Who are to be interviewed. Interviews are conducted in two sessions in the morning and afternoon.
Always have a light meal (breakfast or lunch as per time) before the personality test. Do not remain on an empty stomach. Both empty stomach and heavy food are not good.
Aspirant officers should reach the office of Union Public Service Commission as per their session on the scheduled day of Personality Test. You should reach the personality test center at least half an hour before the scheduled time. Here I would advise you to go by taxi or auto, which is required to be pre-reserved. as well as. As far as possible, you should have another option ready for this. You should not use public transport, especially buses. This will not only make you feel unnecessary stress but other unnecessary incidents like spoiling of clothes etc. can also happen.
After reaching the examination venue and passing through security check, the candidates are made to sit in the waiting room. There are tables in this hall and each table can be used by 4 to 5 candidates. There is an assistant available to look after each table and complete the work of checking the documents. The environment of the waiting hall is very comfortable and collaborative where candidates can interact, discuss and discuss with each other on various topics. Newspapers of that day are available there and tea and biscuits are also kept for the candidates.
Thereafter, candidates are informed about their board. Generally, about 6 to 8 boards conduct interviews simultaneously. Each Board has a Chairman who is a member of the Union Public Service Commission (note that the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission is not the Chairman of any Board). Apart from the Chairman, each Board has 4 other members who are not members of the Union Public Service Commission but are eminent persons in their respective fields. Generally, 05 to 06 candidates are interviewed by a board during a session. After the formalities of document verification are completed, the peon comes to the hall and calls out the names of each candidate and in this sequence they go to their respective interview boards. The same process continues till the last candidate.
There is no need to be too worried about your interview board. Obviously bitter. I agree that there is some difference in the method of giving marks by interview boards, but at the same time I want to say with equal clarity that no board is an “anti-candidate board”. Therefore, it is better to forget the topic where you are unable to do anything. Be sure to have this much faith that whatever decision God the Father has taken for you is the best decision.
Some important precautions for this much-awaited day are as follows.
Do not forget to carry the interview call letter and any other document required by the Commission. Do not take your mobile phone with you or hand it over to a friend.
Avoid the temptation to memorize or learn a new topic while sitting in the waiting hall. You just have light discussion or conversation with other aspirant officers. If you don’t want to do this, just sit quietly and do some office yoga poses.
If you feel the need to go to the toilet, then definitely go. It is not advisable to appear in the personality test with any pressure.
