                                Why is map necessary for civil service?

Map is very important for civil service. It is not possible to understand geography without a map. Maps are Geography andGeography is one of the most important subjects of Civil Services Examination.Around 15 – 17 questions come from Geography. 

Out of which 8 -10 questions come From the map. In map also, questions come more from the geography of India and less from the geography of the world. Apart from geography, maps are also useful in

2. Map is required for taking location while
studying industries.

 

3. A map is needed for the study of
vegetation.

 

4. It is necessary to know the climatic and
geographical conditions for agriculture and trade.

                                                How to study map?

When we study any subject, first of all we have to know for what we are studying that subject. The same thing is with map study, here we are studying maps for civil service, so the following things should be remembered while studying maps.

1. First of all, let us look at the questions from the map which have come in the exam, only from them we will know which areas to pay more attention to and what type of questions will come in the coming time.

2 . For this we will need some study material like – you can take atlas of Oxford and blank maps of India and world, if you want you can also take maps of continents separately.

3. You start studying the map with the continents and oceans, like first knowing the continents, their position in the globe, then knowing the position of the oceans.

4 Maps are mainly of two types, physical and political. In physical, there is talk of all those things that nature has made, such as mountains, plateaus, plains, forests etc. .

5 Those things which are common in the map must be known, like the location of Guru Shikhar, Dal Lake, Bodh Gaya, that is, those things which are known to the general public in general.

6 You should also carefully see their position in the map of the daily events happening in India and the world.

Along with geographical events, political economic events should also be seen in the map.
