Port Blair is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar. Andaman and Nicobar is a union territory of India. Recently, the name of Port Blair has been changed to Sri Vijay Puram by the Government of India. Port Blair is named after Royal Navy Officer Ark Ward Player during the British period. Ark Ward Blair was the first person who surveyed Port Blair.

The British rulers built the Kala Pani Jail here to give severe punishment to the people who committed very serious crimes.
