Swapnil Kusale
Swapnil Kusale is an Indian sport shooter who competes in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions. He recently won a bronze medal in the men’s 50 metre rifle 3 positions event at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Swapnil Kusale was born on 6 August 1995 in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. In 2015, he became a ticket collector for the Indian Railways in Pune, which enabled him to buy his first rifle.
In 2015, Swapnil Kusale won the gold medal in the 50 metre rifle prone 3 in the junior category at the 2015 Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait. In 2015 itself, he won the 50 metre rifle prone event at the 59th National Shooting Championships held in Tughlakabad, finishing ahead of Gagan Narang and Chain Singh.
In October 2022, Swapnil Kusale earned an Olympic quota berth for India in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event by finishing fourth at the 2022 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Cairo.
In May 2024, he was selected in the Indian Olympic team in the 50m rifle 3 positions event after trials in Delhi and Bhopal.
At the 2024 Olympics, Swapnil Kusale became the first Indian to qualify for the final of the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event, and won the bronze medal with a score of 451.4 in the final, a matter of pride for all Indians. We and our team wish him all the best.
