What is UNESCO Creative Cities Network?

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) is a global initiative that recognizes cities with exceptional talent and potential in seven creative sectors.The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) is a global network of cities that are committed to using culture and creativity as drivers for sustainable urban development. The network was launched in 2004 and currently includes over 300 cities in over 100 countries.

UNESCO Creative Cities Network Objectives

The aim is to help these cities enhance their creative potential and develop their creative economies. The network’s member cities share experiences and resources, and work together to promote creativity as a driving force for the development of cities.

How many cities of India have been included?

So far eight cities of India have been included in such networks. These include – Jaipur, Hyderabad, Chennai, Varanasi, Gwalior, Kozhikode etc. By 2023, 300 Sharons have been included in this network.
