Siddaramaiah
Siddaramaiah is an Indian politician who is the current Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and has served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka twice, from 2013 to 2018 and from 2023 to present.
Siddaramaiah was born on August 3, 1947, in Siddaramanahundi, a village in Mysore district, Karnataka. He studied at the University of Mysore and the Karnataka University. He began his political career in the 1970s and joined the Janata Party. He served as the Minister for Irrigation and Power in the Karnataka government from 1994 to 1996. In 1999, he joined the Janata Dal (Secular) and served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from 2004 to 2006.
Siddaramaiah joined the INC in 2006 and was elected as the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in 2009. He was elected Chief Minister of Karnataka in 2013 and served until 2018. He was re-elected Chief Minister of Karnataka in 2023.
